JH and her friends in Atlanta (my home town!) have met as a book club for 25 years!! I painted the books they voted the best of the lot.

(Also, this was my *500th* Ideal Bookshelf painting! woo!)

JH is based in Kabul, and commissioned this for her friend JA. Once I started pulling up the photos and realizing there were a few cool landscape spines (Little House, East of Eden, and The Great Game), I hunted through the Google/eBay to find more (the Penman and the Newby).

RLL is in school, and this is his ideal shelf. I love the mix of the super classics and contemporary classics. I also love that RLL has such a distinct color scheme, full of blues with a bit of heat.

Finally, I made a new set of travelogues, from ones suggested by friends and acquaintances. I tried to use editions of the books that felt most like the subject matter. Very much in love with Osa Johnson’s I Married Adventure and Out of Africa.

Our friends Amy & Magnus are just about to have twins! So I painted a new set of essential kid’s books for their nursery. My favorite recent book in here is Around the World With Mouk by Marc Boutavant, and my favorite old-skool one is Elephant Buttons by Noriko Ueno, which is no longer in print but sometimes on eBay.
